The Delaware Democratic Veterans and Military Family Members Caucus passed the following resolution at our Executive Committee Meeting on April 22, 2025.
Be it resolved that the Delaware Democratic Party Veterans and Military Family Members Caucus (the Caucus) recognizes the importance and accomplishments of our State Party Chair, Betsy Maron, who recently announced that she will be stepping down as our Chair. Before becoming the Party Chair, Betsy helped lead the Coordinated Campaign in 2020, contributing to Joe Biden’s historic win in Delaware. As State Party Chair since November 2020, the first woman to hold that role in Delaware, she has overseen the continuation and expansion of the Democratic Party’s dominance in Delaware. Under her leadership, Delaware voters:
Retained Democratic control of all statewide offices in the 2024 election, including Governor, Lt. Governor, and Insurance Commissioner.
Elected the first Black woman to represent Delaware in the US Senate, Lisa Blunt Rochester, one of only five Black women ever elected to the US Senate.
Elected the first openly transgender person, Sarah McBride, to the US Congress
Established a Democratic supermajority in the State Senate.
These election wins are not due to happenstance but result from hard work and organizing around the state and in specific districts. Most recently, Democrats held on, by sizeable majorities, to the two open State Senate seats vacated by Kyle Evan Gay winning the lieutenant governorship and Sarah McBride winning the US House race, ensuring that we retained our State Senate supermajority.
The Caucus thanks Betsy for her service and leadership to our party and our state, and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
